What has excited me most about my ten-year career in communications and digital marketing is how drastically my work has changed over this time. Not only do social media and digital marketing trends change frequently, but every single day at work is different and there’s always more to learn. From content creation to community management to influencer marketing and more, I am constantly satisfying my need to pilot new ideas and grow professionally.
With an undergraduate degree in English Rhetoric & Media, and Italian, and a Master of Arts degree in Communications (not to mention a slight obsession with social media and internet cultures), digital marketing found me. Let’s be honest- what else is a technologically-capable millennial going to do with multiple language degrees?
I started out blogging for my undergraduate university, writing fashion and lifestyle articles as a staff writer for the school newspaper, and managing departmental social media accounts. Then I went on to get my MA in social media and selfie studies (really!), branding myself as a selfie expert along the way. Since graduation, I’ve worked with charities and small businesses to help build their professional brand image, exponentially grow their social media presence, and ultimately grow their business and income. I have also had the pleasure of speaking at numerous national and local conferences, on the radio and podcasts, and guest lecturing university courses, including at Ryerson University in Toronto.
When I’m not on the internet, I can be found working out, exploring my home of Toronto, ON, and reading all of the books.
